Temple was founded in 1994 by Rev.Wendell Correll, pastor of Temple Baptist Church. The school started out with 16 students. It grew to over 230 students in 2005.[1] In 2008, the enrollment declined to about 150 students. The graduating class of 2008 had the last student from the original 16 and the first student to go all the way through the school's curriculum (Pre-K through 12).
The school mascot is the Lions. The school competes in class 1A in the FHSAA. There are six sports.
In 2009, Temple had six-man football, volleyball, girls and boys basketball, cheerleading, and baseball. Grades 6th through 12th participate.[2]
The curriculum is by A Beka Book, which is produced at Pensacola Christian College. The school is accredited by the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.[3]
Temple gives the high school students the opportunity of taking dual enrolment courses at Brevard Community College Campus in Titusville, Florida which is located directly across from Temple Christian School. Home-schooled students have the privilege of taking classes at Temple Christian as well as participating in clubs, athletics, and other activities in the school.[4]
Temple was featured on Local Fox 35 January 26, 2010, for their contributions to Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake there.[5]
